If we do have only one life to live

If we do have only one life to live…

The truth is that for me travelling around the world is the perfect answers to that emphasis.

Because I try to live without regret, I travel.

I travel with my backpack because it’s reminding me that we don’t need so much to be fully happy.

Happiness is not an ending line otherwise a path. When you are living this moment, be in the present. Live it without fear of losing it. Because it will come back for sure.

Fear don’t have to be a way for you to escape from your REALISATION

Only a way to grow and challenge yourself toward something better and bigger!

Trust yourself, listen to yourself (as a best friends)

Your intuition knows what is right

Every trip is an occasion to add in your life some memories, life lessons and new friends.

Life is short. Life is beautiful. Life is yours. So grab it and design it as you wish!

How to visit Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (West of Africa) from a native perspective

On the map: carte-BF

How to come: Best way is by plane. Buy a flight ticket  mostly expensive because we don’t get so many tourists. But don’t worry, your budget won’t grow on your journey as the country is cheap.

History : I could speak for hours about our history, our presidents and political issues with Frances and etc Let’s just say i won’t ! Let’s just say that African’s country have a solid background.

But I do invite you to look after that if your are interested.

Good to know : Burkina-Faso are called burkinabé. The capital is Ouagadougou. There are various religion. Mostly muslim and christian and they do get along.

We love our traditional King :

dolo, chips, salad of cucumber, riz gras, skewer, mango…

Languages : The main language is french but there are many others dialects. As we have various ethnic groups, such as Mossi, Dyula, Fula…

Key word in moore :  Just in case. It can save you if you are with a local. Or just for your shopping there.

Ne-y yibeoogo Good morning
Laafi / Laafi bala. I am fine.
Bilfu See you
F’ gomda moore ? (ou Fo) Do you speak moore ?
Mam wumda moore. I understand mooré.
Fo yuur la bôe ? What’s your name?
Fo tara yuum a wâna ? How old are you?
Yaa wâna? How much?
Yaa sôama! That’s fine!
Yaa sida. That’s true !
Yaa toogo That’s is expensive.
Mam nonga foo I love you

Most of the vendor in the markets are speaking that dialect (it’s a dialect but more than8 millions speak it) so… Yeah kind like a language. No?!

When to come : It depends of what you want to see or do.From november to May, the dry season with the harmattan. And between june and october during rainy season.

Savety: Pay attention and you will be fine. Kind like in Asia, you can be easily be fooled. Pay attention and you will be alright. Don’t get involved in political issues i will say. Ask before taking someone or something with your camera. There are some specific places where you are free to do what you want but some where your won’t. (In spiritual places, Churges, Mosque, …) That’s common sense as you can see.

Taxi drivers are dangerous and we don’t have public transport in the city. So borrow a bike or ask to your hotel a driver. If you want to visit the area, you will find buses.

Before travelling there, verify the political situation oft he country, just in case.

What to see:

top things to do in Burkina Faso

within/outside the capital you get to choose

What to eat: Babenda – Atcheque – Benga-  Dolo traditional beer – Bisap a natural fruit juice – Tô –  braised fish and so more delcious tropical fruits and meals.

Literature: Most oft he locals can’t buy books in the stores saddly. But you can, it won’t be a massive spent for you. So i invite you to discover african literature ! We do have excellent authors, waiting to be finally known by foreigners.

What to do: I will say enjoy the country and tell people that yes we do have poverty, political issues, analphabetism, disparity etc

On the other and, we have so many beautiful places, different kind of food, traditions, dances, etc

Did you know : Burkina-Faso is the first exporter of cotton and gold. But one oft the poorest country oddly.

Creativity anywhere:. When you can’t buy thing you find solutions. How to play, how to live, how to re invent your life!

9 resons why I fell in love with Edinburgh?

I have to say that I could not have visited Edinburgh! Hopefully, on my two weeks in Scotland so many people assure me that going to Edinburgh was a must do trip! So I did and fell fort hat city in only one day !

Edinburgh is very different to Glasgow and other parts of the Highlands. Each place is great to see but we can’t compare them at all in my opinion.

So why Edinburgh is a must do trip?

  • 1) Why not? In the case, you are visiting the Highlands. Come to Edinburgh and don’t give to it a second though like I did. It is so beautiful. The houses build with a Victorian style. The roads and the side walks are larger than ever. It feels like you fell into a twenty century city besides obviously the car and the people holding smartphone. But it is easy to forget that ! Fore sure.
  • 2) You have the choice between going in the city centre with the crowd of people. And enjoy doing Shopping for example. (I am from Switzerland so to shop there was so worth it !

  • 3) You can avoid the crowd easily. For example by going to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. It was like magic ! In middle of February and i still had the opportunity to connect with nature itself. Just give a look to those pictures…
  • 4) Personally I walked all day, but if you are just not in the mood you actually can sit down on a bus tour and enjoy your tour of the city. Plus, from Edinburgh there are so many days trip starting from there. (Outlander tours, Da Vinci Code, … Etc

  • 5) Most oft the museum are free. But even walking down the street you will pay attention to the architecture and the monuments and statues who surround you. In short: The whole city is a FREE LIVING MUSEUM!

  • 6) I have seen so much in only one day without being in hurry. So imagine what you could do in on a week-end or more…

  • 7) Are you an epicurean ? Food means a lot to you ? My mantra is the best part of being a human being is that I can eat and taste everything I wan to. Edinburgh will give you all kind of meals and restaurants that you are looking for.
  • 8) After two weeks in the Highlands I could not dream for a better ending of my trip. And only fort hat, it will be my last reason why Edinburgh is a must to my mind. So now that you know why Edinburgh is in my hearth forever !

  • 9) Don’t wait and book a ticket for Edinburgh! You won’t regret it. Trust me and give a feedback of your trip. 😉
